Hydrogen Applications and Use Cases
Hydrogen is an important substance. It plays a major role in new developments – for example in energy and industry. This course is about understanding how hydrogen is used today and why it is so important.
Hydrogen has small atoms and is very reactive. This brings special opportunities, but also challenges. Hydrogen could become a clean energy source and help to use less harmful fuels. In this course, we take a look at how hydrogen is used in various areas – for example in transportation, energy storage and industry.
One important topic is the use of hydrogen in trains and cars. Hydrogen trains show that hydrogen can replace diesel and could help to protect the environment. Another example is the use of hydrogen in trucks and large machines, such as in mines. Hydrogen is a good solution here because it lasts a long time and can be refueled quickly – similar to diesel. A project in India with the companies Adani and Ashok Leyland shows how hydrogen can be used in mining trucks, for example.
