What and how you learn

Theory and practice

Summer University offers 50 lessons of 45 minutes in 2 weeks under supervision by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora and other professors from the Institute for Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics. Practical exercises and lab training include programming, visits to state-of-the art labs and industry partners.
In additions, students receive detailed materials, have access to labs and individual guidance by professors.

Credit system

  • The course is also assessed according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), which is expressed in ECTS points (study points).
  • ECTS was developed by the Commission of the European Union to provide a common framework for the recognition of academic studies abroad.
  • Students will be awarded with 5 ECTS Credit points upon successful completion of the course.

The Instructor

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora

is a leading academic at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, heading the Institute of Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK). He is also involved in the Hahn-Schickard Institute of Applied Research, leading two engineering divisions. As of 2019, he has been affiffiliated with the University of Freiburg’s engineering faculty.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora is also the chairman of Embedded World, the leading IIoT Conference in Europe.

  • After registration and payment of the full course fee, an official letter of invitation will be issued, which will be used for presentation at the German Embassy for the visa application. The invitation letter will be sent to you by registered mail after receipt of payment and you will also receive a scan copy by email.
  • For visa process, please read the information on visa regulations provided by the German Missions in India – and get your answers covered in the FAQ section.
  • DADB supports applicants with the visa process throughout.
  • The costs for the issuing of the visa shall be covered by the participant.
  • Considering the possible long processing time at the embassy, it is recommended to register for the program early.
  • The program fees do not include insurance cover. All participants are required to take health insurance valid in Germany (preferably Europe). Please check with your insurance company whether it covers a stay in Germany. If not, you are required to purchase appropriate insurance.
  • In addition, we recommend accident and liability insurance. Students are liable for all culpably caused damages.
